Sharks Re-Sign Henry Thrun

The Sharks announced on Wednesday afternoon that they have re-signed RFA defenseman Henry Thrun to a two-year deal worth $2 million ($1 million AAV).

Thrun is a solid young defenseman with plenty of promise and potential to blossom into a star with the Sharks. This past season, Henry Thrun recorded three goals and eight assists for 11 points in 51 NHL games. He also ranked tenth among NHL rookie defensemen in points, sixth in average time on ice per game (20 minutes), and third in penalty kill time on ice (86:07). Thrun became one of three NHL rookie defensemen to log at least 25 minutes of ice time in a game four or more times. On top of that, Thrun was named the Sharks' Rookie of the Year for 2023-24.

Overall, it was just a matter of time before the Sharks signed Henry Thrun to a new contract, and I'm glad they worked out a new deal. He is expected to make the Sharks out of training camp heading into this coming season, and I hope he can take his game to the next level in 2024-25. With that now out the way, the only remaining RFA on the Sharks still needing a new contract heading into the 2024-25 season is Thomas Bordeleau. Stay tuned to CPF Hockey for more updates.
