Sharks 2026-27 Game 16 Recap: Flames 2, Sharks 1 (11/2/26)

The Sharks continue to struggle to generate much offense, finishing their current four-game homestand with a 2-1 loss to the Calgary Flames.

The Flames struck first via Adam Klapka late in the first period, which was generated by an awful Sharks turnover on a cross-ice pass from Nolan Allan. During the middle of the third period, William Stromgren scored to extend the Flames’ lead to two. A few minutes later, the Sharks finally get on the board and back in this game on Sam Dickinson’s first goal of the season, assisted by Jacob Trouba and Kiefer Sherwood.

Yaroslav Askarov performed well in net but could not get bailed out by his offense once more, recording 20 saves on 22 shots against. In addition, Adam Gaudette was back on the fourth line in place of Ty Dellandrea, and Tyler Toffoli got moved up to the top line with Macklin Celebrini and Will Smith tonight, among other line changes.

Team Teal’s offense remains snakebitten, and they have now dropped four of their last five games. This largely due to Ryan Warsofsky not receiving enough buy-in from his players at this time and the Sharks being without two key forwards in Alexander Wennberg and Igor Chernyshov due to injuries. It also does not help that Flames goalie Dustin Wolf tends to play his best hockey against his hometown team. On a more positive note, at least Sam Dickinson scored his first goal of the season, and Yaroslav Askarov retains the upper hand over Alex Nedeljkovic in terms of goaltending. San Jose hits the road for its next three games, starting on Wednesday in LA against the Kings at 7 pm PT.

Sharks Hometown Remix Jersey Revealed + My Thoughts

The NHL has revealed its Hometown Remix jerseys for all 32 teams Monday morning. Some look pretty good, while others do not look as amazing. This post focuses on the Sharks’ new Hometown Remix jersey, which features a lighter shade of teal on most of the jersey, a large “SJ” with the screaming shark inside of the letters as the primary logo, and shark teeth at the halfway point of the sleeves with light teal above and black below the teeth. At the bottom of the jersey, it has the words “SHARK TANK” in between a hockey stick plastered there. Completing the new Sharks Hometown Remix jersey are screaming shark logos as the shoulder patches and layers of gray, white, and black at the bottom.

The Sharks plan to wear their Hometown Remix uniforms on the ice eight times this season, including tonight against the Calgary Flames. While it may not my favorite Sharks or Hometown Remix jersey, the new Hometown Remix jersey looks better and sharper than what the early leak suggested. My main criticism with it is that I prefer to see a Sharks logo with no letter mark as this latest jersey’s primary logo instead of what the designers ultimately went with. I am looking forward to seeing these new jerseys on the ice and in person, and I have a feeling that they will grow on me and look even better after doing so. I may potentially get my hands on one in the near future as well. Stay tuned for my recap on the Sharks-Flames game in which these jerseys will make their on-ice debut later tonight.
