The Sharks have made a trade with the Chicago Blackhawks, acquiring goalie Laurent Brossoit, defenseman Nolan Allan, and a 2028 7th-round pick in exchange for Ryan Ellis' contract, defenseman Jake Furlong, and a 2028 4th-round pick.
This trade shores up depth for the Barracuda in the AHL more than anything. During the 2025-26 with the Rockford Ice Hogs, Laurent Brossoit has a 3-3-0 record, a 3.38 goals-against average, a .901 save percentage, and a goal scored on December 12 against the Milwaukee Admirals in six appearances. He has mostly been a career backup goalie in the NHL as well, compiling a 64-46-13 record, .911 SV%, and 2.64 GAA in 140 games with the Edmonton Oilers, Winnipeg Jets, and Vegas Golden Knights, and hoisting the Stanley Cup as a member of the Golden Knights. His AHL career totals amount to a 2.74 GAA, .912 SV%, record of 80-69-17, and 11 shutouts.
As for Nolan Allan, he has played in 29 games for the Ice Hogs this season, scoring two goals and four assists for six points. In total, Allan has one goal, seven assists, and eight points in 43 NHL games, along with nine goals, 20 assists, and 29 points in 109 AHL games, all with the Blackhawks organization.
As for Jake Furlong, he has two assists in 12 games with the Barracuda in the AHL this season. In total, Furlong has one goal, nine assists, and ten points in 78 AHL games, all with San Jose.
Overall, this is a decent trade for both teams involved, and I hope it can help clear up some of the logjam not only in the Sharks organization as a whole, but especially at the big-league level.
In other news, Pavol Regenda was named to Team Slovakia's roster for the upcoming Milano Cortina Winter Olympics next month. Based on the other recent Sharks player Olympic roster designations and his recent hot streak, it was just a matter of time for Pavol Regenda in regards to making Team Slovakia for this year's Winter Olympics.
