Sharks 2025-26 Game 31 Recap: Flyers 4, Sharks 1 (12/9/25)

Despite getting the first goal, the Sharks were chasing from the get-go and got dominated in most other aspects of this one in a 4-1 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers

The Sharks struck first in the opening period on a tic-tac-toe play that set up Collin Graf to score his sixth goal of the season and extend his goal streak to three games, assisted by John Klingberg and Will Smith. Later in the first period, the Flyers responded on a goal from Christian Dvorak to tie the game at one. Early in the second period, Philadelphia gained the lead on a deflection via Carl Grundstrom against his former team. With 10.9 seconds remaining in the second period, Noah Cates scored to put the Flyers up by two. Lastly, the Flyers added one more on an empty-netter by Travis Konecny with just over one and a half minutes left in regulation to make it 4-1.

Alex Nedeljkovic recorded 26 saves on 29 shots against for the Sharks in Philadelphia. In addition, Yaroslav Askarov has been dealing with an illness, and Justin Kowalkoski was added to the Sharks roster tonight as their emergency backup goalie. Michael Misa has been loaned to Team Canada for the upcoming IIHF World Juniors tournament later this month, and Sharks goalie prospect Josh Ravensbergen was named to Team Canada's World Juniors roster as well.

The only positive takeaway from the Sharks’ loss to the Flyers is that Collin Graf is currently on a heater, scoring goals in three straight games and setting a career high with six goals so far this season. The Sharks will look to bounce back when they travel to Toronto to face the Maple Leafs in their next game on Thursday at 4 pm PT.
