Sharks 2025-26 Game 16 Recap: Sharks 3, Panthers 1 (11/8/25)

Team Teal continues to roll, as they defeat the Florida Panthers 3-1 win their third consecutive game and five of their past six.

The Sharks struck first late in the opening period when Macklin Celebrini went top corner for his tenth goal of the season, assisted by Will Smith and Vincent Desharnais. Early in the second period, the Sharks extended their lead to two when Adam Gaudette deflected a shot from Dmitry Orlov for his fourth goal of the season, with Timothy Liljegren picking up the secondary assist on this goal. Seconds later, the Panthers got it back to a one-goal game on a goal from Brad Marchand. Team Teal finished this one off with just under a minute remaining in regulation with an empty-net goal by Alexander Wennberg for his fourth goal of the season, assisted by Collin Graf and Will Smith.

Yaroslav Askarov was outstanding against the defending Stanley Cup champions, recording 38 saves on 39 shots against. In addition, Sam Dickinson was back on the Sharks blue line, while Shakir Mukhamadullin was a healthy scratch tonight.

Not only was this a massive victory for the Sharks, but with this win, they became only the sixth team in NHL history to beat the Presidents Trophy winners and Stanley Cup champions in consecutive days, which is a truly unbelievable feat. Another huge and impressive aspect that led to the Sharks keeping their win streak alive was their most impressive penalty kill effort of the season so far when the Panthers were making serious pushes whenever they were on their power play. Macklin Celebrini maintained his point-per-game pace and league lead in points with 24, and now has double-digit goals on the season. The current state of the Sharks is the best it’s been in a long time, and they now find themselves right behind the Blackhawks for the second wild card spot in the Western Conference. San Jose begins a three-game road trip next week on Tuesday in Minnesota against the Wild at 5 pm PT.
