Sharks Trade Nico Sturm to Panthers

The Sharks have made their third trade in the past 24 hours ahead of tomorrow’s trade deadline, sending forward Nico Sturm and a 2027 seventh-round pick to the Florida Panthers in exchange for a 2026 fourth-round pick.

This season for the Sharks, Nico Sturm has seven goals and six assists for 13 points in 47 games and leads the NHL in faceoff win percentage with 62.7%. He also ranks eighth on the Sharks in hits with 70 and seventh among Sharks forwards in shorthanded time on ice with 48 minutes and 27 seconds. Over the course of his Sharks tenure, Nico Sturm has compiled 26 goals and 26 assists for 52 points in 184 games. As for the return, the Sharks now have six picks in the 2026 NHL Draft.

Overall, Nico Sturm has been a pretty solid depth forward for the Sharks for the past few seasons, especially in the faceoff circle. Although his presence in the Sharks clubhouse will be missed, since he is on the final year of his contract and is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer, Sturm was one of the top players I was expecting the Sharks to trade before tomorrow's trade deadline, and I am not shocked at all by the result of this finalized deal. More to come tonight with the Sharks-Avalanche game recap on CPF Hockey.
