Sharks 2024-25 Game 48 Recap: Islanders 4, Sharks 1 (1/18/25)

Much of the same has occurred for the Sharks in Long Island as it did in their previous game in Columbus, as they drop their second consecutive game 4-1 to the New York Islanders.

The Islanders opened the scoring in the second period via Mat Barzal, while the Sharks responded soon after on Barclay Goodrow’s third goal of the season, assisted by Jan Rutta. The Islanders followed that up with two more goals in the second period via Noah Dobson and Brock Nelson to take a two-goal lead into the second intermission. The Isles resumed scoring near the start of the third period, with Ryan Pulock extending their lead to three.

Alexandar Georgiev made his third consecutive start for Team Teal, recording 27 saves on 31 shots against. In addition, Timothy Liljegren did not play due to illness, with Henry Thrun inserted back into the Sharks lineup.

The Sharks’ next stop on their current five-game road trip is in Boston to face the Bruins on Monday at 10 am PT.
