Sharks Re-Sign Alex Wennberg to 3-Year Contract Extension

The Sharks and forward Alexander Wennberg have come to terms on a contract extension worth three years and $18 million ($6 million AAV).

Wennberg has been a great, solid, and serviceable depth forward during his two seasons in San Jose so far. As of the halfway point through this season, Wennberg has seven goals, 19 assists, and 26 points. He is tied for second on the Sharks in assists and tied for third on the Sharks in points this season, and was named to Team Sweden’s roster for the upcoming Milano Cortina Winter Olympics next month. Wennberg is also tied for tenth among Swedish forwards in assists and compiled three separate three-game point streaks this season.

Overall, I am glad that Alex Wennberg is sticking around in teal for at least the next three seasons. He has been impactful for the Sharks as a depth forward, and it’s great that he wants to remain a part of this team as they inch closer to becoming a legitimate playoff contender.
