Sharks 2025-26 Game 26 Recap: Golden Knights 4, Sharks 3 (11/29/25)

A comeback in the second period by the Sharks fell short, as a big second period by the Golden Knights propelled Vegas to a 4-3 victory.

The Sharks struck first early in the opening period on Will Smith’s ninth goal of the season in his 100th NHL game, who now has goals in consecutive games. Tyler Toffoli and Dmitry Orlov assisted on the opening goal by Will Smith. Later in the first period, the Golden Knights responded on a goal from former Shark Tomas Hertl to even things up at one.

Early in the second period, Vegas scored twice via Colton Sissons and Mitch Marner to gain their first lead of the night. Later in the middle frame, the Golden Knights extended their lead to three on a deflection goal by Tomas Hertl for his second goal of the night against his former club. Soon after, the Sharks got one back on a power play goal by Will Smith for his tenth goal of the season and second goal of the night, assisted by Macklin Celebrini for the latter’s 100th NHL point. Team Teal followed that up with a breakaway goal by William Eklund for his seventh goal of the season, assisted by Adam Gaudette and Mario Ferraro, to cut their deficit to one and claw back into this contest in the final minute of the second period. The third period was scoreless, and the Sharks made more of a push towards the end of this contest, but they fell short getting that extra goal to tie and force overtime.

Alex Nedeljkovic started in goal in Vegas for the second game of this back-to-back set, recording 20 saves on 24 shots against. In addition, Shakir Mukhamadullin and Nick Leddy were inserted on the Sharks blue line tonight in place of Sam Dickinson and Vincent Iorio, while Vincent Desharnais has been and is currently dealing with an injury that has kept him out of this weekend’s games.

Despite falling short in their final game of November, it was great to see this Sharks team remain resilient and competitive to give themselves a chance to win after trailing 4-1 midway through the second period. Will Smith had a great game tonight, scoring twice in his milestone 100th NHL game, while Macklin Celebrini became one of the fastest and youngest players in NHL history to reach the 100-point mark in his career. Also on a more positive note, the Sharks close out the month of November with a 9-5-1 record and their first winning month since October 2021, which is absolutely monumental for them and their direction for the future. San Jose returns home for its next two games starting on Monday against the Utah Mammoth at 7 pm PT.
