Sharks 2023-24 Game 50 Recap: Sharks 2, Kraken 0 (1/30/24)

The Sharks earned their fourth win in five games by shutting out the Seattle Kraken 2-0, marking the first time Team Teal has shut out an opponent in a game this season.

Both teams didn’t perform particularly well during the first two periods of this game, but luckily it remained scoreless through then. The only goals scored in this game came in the third period, with Marc-Eduoard Vlasic breaking the ice for his third goal in the past five games and Jan Rutta scoring an empty-netter. William Eklund assisted on both goals in this contest, while Ty Emberson assisted on the first of these two goals by Vlasic.

Mackenzie Blackwoood picked up his first shutout as a Shark, stopping all 32 shots he faced en route to the win over the Kraken. In addition, Tomas Hertl did not play in tonight’s game due to a minor injury, while Jacob MacDonald was activated from the IR and Mario Ferraro was transferred to the IR in place of MacDonald.

It’s amazing to see this Sharks team back in the win column and Pickles finding his scoring touch once again. I am starting to believe more and more that this team can work more of its magic and create something special for the rest of the season and in the future. They have one more game tomorrow before the All-Star break and their mandated approximate one week off, traveling down to Orange County to face the Anaheim Ducks at 7:30 pm PT.
