Sharks News & Notes (10/4/23)

Nearly all of the Sharks' preseason games are in the books, and Team Teal made a notable waiver claim recently. It has been a bit since I last wrote a news & notes post, so let's dive in:

The Sharks have recently claimed defenseman Ty Emberson off of waivers from the New York Rangers, and he is now a full participant at Sharks practices and training camp. Last season, Emberson scored seven goals and 20 assists for 27 points in 69 games for the Hartford Wolfpack of the AHL, ranking third on the Wolfpack among defensemen in points and assists and second among team skaters in plus/minus. In total, Emberson has 12 goals and 27 assists for 39 points in 132 AHL games with Hartford and the Tuscon Roadrunners.

Here's a quick recap of the preseason games the Sharks have played thus far heading into the 2023-24 season:

Game 1: Sharks 5, Golden Knights 2 (9/24/23)

Game 2: Ducks 4, Sharks 2 (9/26/23)

Game 3: Ducks 4, Sharks 2 (9/27/23)

Game 4: Kings 2, Sharks 1 (OT) (9/30/23)

Game 5: Sharks 2, Golden Knights 0 (10/3/23)

Next up, The Sharks play their final preseason game on Thursday against the LA Kings in Salt Lake City before officially opening their 2023-24 regular season at home against the Vegas Golden Knights on October 12.

UPDATE: Right after I initially published this post, the Sharks signed their late first-round pick from this year, Quentin Musty, to a three-year, standard entry-level contract.
