Sharks 2021-22 Game 52 Recap: Bruins 3, Sharks 1 (2/26/22)

The Sharks lose to the Boston Bruins 3-1 in the Bs’ first visit to SAP Center in three years.

This wasn't a great game from the Sharks' perspective. They gave up the first goal of the game in the first period to Brad Marchand, and this Sharks team resorted to a lot of dump and chase in this one. Tomas Hertl took a high stick from Erik Haula and needed some repairs done, but was able to return to action later in the first.

The Sharks tied the game in the second period on the power play on Timo Meier's team-leading 24th goal of the season, with assists from Brent Burns and Logan Couture. Following the game-tying goal from Timo, Mario Ferraro injured his ankle after he went awkwardly into the boards when he was hit by Taylor Hall and didn't return to the game.

The Bruins capped this one off with Brad Marchand's second goal of the game early in the third and a goal by Patrice Bergeron towards the end of the third.

James Reimer started in net for the 11th straight game, making 34 saves in the loss to the Bruins. It would be great if Zach Sawchenko started games here and there so Reimer doesn't get overworked and eventually hit a rapid decline like what happened with Martin Jones.

Andrew Cogliano didn't play against the Bruins Saturday night as he had to deal with a personal matter.

In addition, SAP Center drew one of the biggest crowds they've had all season, with a good chunk of them being Bruins fans.

The Sharks are back at it again tonight, hosting the Seattle Kraken in the second game of a back-to-back set and still looking for their first win against the NHL's newest franchise at 7 pm PT.
