The San Jose City Council has officially unanimously approved a deal that would keep the Sharks at the SAP Center in San Jose through at least June 30, 2051.
Also part of this agreement are upcoming renovations to SAP Center that will occur over the next seven seasons to modernize the Shark Tank, further improve the fan experience, and maintain its status as a world-class venue for Sharks hockey, concerts, and other sporting events and shows.
Overall, this is excellent for everyone involved: the Sharks, City of San Jose, fans, and local community. I absolutely love how committed the Sharks are to San Jose and vice versa. Team Teal has had such a massive impact on its surrounding local communities in the Bay Area, especially Silicon Valley, and they and I are thankful that the Sharks will remain a fixture there for at least the next 25 years. I have had nothing but generally positive experiences during the seven Sharks games I have attended at SAP Center so far, and I am certainly looking forward to seeing more history being created and these upcoming renovations transform the Shark Tank into an even greater spectacle over the next several seasons as the Sharks trend further towards playoff contention once again.
