Sharks 2023-24 Game 71 Recap: Stars 6, Sharks 3 (3/26/24)

The Sharks are still unable to buy a win, as they close out their current three-game homestand with a 6-3 loss to the Dallas Stars.

The Stars jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period on a shorthanded breakaway goal by Wyatt Johnston and one at even strength by Mason Marchment. Dallas made it 3-0 just 14 seconds into the second period via Jason Robertson, while the Sharks got on the board soon after via Alexander Barabanov from William Eklund and Jan Rutta. William Eklund scored his 12th goal of the season about a minute later to get the Sharks within one, with assists going to Thomas Bordeleau and Mikael Granlund. The Sharks and Stars continued to trade goals in the second period, with Jamie Benn scoring to make it 4-2 Stars, followed by Klim Kostin’s sixth goal of the season and seventh point in nine games with the Sharks from Mikael Granlund to make it 4-3 and Wyatt Johnston’s second goal of the game to make it 5-3. In addition, earlier in the second period, Luke Kunin recorded fights in consecutive games, challenging Ty Dellandrea in another tilt to get this Sharks team going. Later in the third period, Jason Robertson scored his second goal of the game to give the Stars their biggest lead of the night, putting this one away for good.

Mackenzie Blackwood was back in net for Team Teal, recording 35 saves on 41 shots against in the Sharks’ 17th defeat in their last 18 games.

San Jose hits the road for their next two games, with the first stop in Minnesota against the Wild on Thursday at 5 pm PT.
