Sharks 2021-22 Game 74 Recap: Stars 2, Sharks 1 (4/16/22)

The Sharks' losing skid extends to nine as they fall to the Dallas Stars 2-1.

San Jose seems to be gradually improving during the progression of their current skid, but they can't seem to get over the hump. Team Teal was able to keep another playoff-bound team in the Stars in check, but the lack of goal support cost them.

The Stars scored the first two goals, the first one by Tyler Seguin in the first period and the second one by Michael Raffl in the second period while shorthanded. The only goal scored by the Sharks in this game was by Timo Meier, who tallied his team-leading 33rd goal of the season. Ryan Merkley and Mario Ferraro were credited with the assists on the Sharks' only goal of the game.

Kaapo Kahkonen had an excellent performance in net with 24 saves on 26 shots but was let down by the Sharks' lack of goal support. In addition, Alexander Barabanov and Erik Karlsson didn't play in this game as they were held out due to undisclosed injury reasons.

On a more positive note, the Sharks signed forward Thomas Bordeleau to a three-year contract with an AAV of $916.7k. The 2020 second-round pick just completed a terrific season with the University of Michigan and recently played a few games with the Barracuda in the AHL. It has also been confirmed that Bordeleau will make his NHL debut tomorrow against the Wild in Minnesota.

I and many others see the Sharks' current performance as a form of glorified tanking. They close out their current road trip tomorrow in the second game of a back-to-back set in St. Paul against the Minnesota Wild at 3 pm PT.
